Harvesting & Using Medicinal Roots
Come get your hands dirty in the medicinal herb garden! Many gardeners grow medicinal herbs, but hesitate when it comes time to dig up the roots. Let “Farmden”er Nicole Orens-Williams and north fork herbalist April Alexander show how to respectfully harvest and prepare medicinal roots to be used as medicine. Roots discussed will include ashwaghanda, echinacea, valerian, marshmallow, and elecampane. Participants will get to harvest, clean, and prepare roots into an herbal remedy to take home.
Workshop is beginner friendly, includes materials, and will last 1-2 hours. Registration preferred (last-minute attendees are welcome if spaces are available and class has at least two signed up 24 hours in advance).
