Every garden needs vertical growing spaces. A trellis or arch is a must have for pole beans and peas, and greatly increases yields of climbers like cucumbers, melons, or squashes. Let jack-of-all-trades (and master of quite a few!) Tom Williams guide you through the process of fabricating your own zip-tied rebar and wire garden arch and cucumber trellis. This is a design we hacked ourselves through much trial and error. Five years later, these rustic structures not only look great, but are still going strong in our kitchen garden. The arch would make a perfect garden entrance. It looks fantastic covered in bean vines or cucumbers. The cucumber trellis is a real space saver, allowing you to grow tons of cukes while using just a small part of your bed.
This is a hands-on workshop—attendees will be fabricating and taking home an actual arch or trellis to be installed in their own gardens.
Workshop is $40, plus materials fee if you’d like to bring an arch or trellis home that day. Choose from the following options:
4’ deep x 78” high Garden Arch ($80 materials fee)
4’x4’ or 4’x6’ Cucumber Trellis ($30 materials fee)
