Got herbs growing but not sure what to do with them? Thinking about making your own remedies, but need to get started? Join north fork herbalist April Alexander and “farmden”er Nicole Orens-Williams for Part 2 of this three-week series. This week they will cover “simples” from top to bottom--reviewing best practices for preserving herbs through simple infusions and tinctures. Topics covered will include: infused oils, tinctures, glycerites, herbal vinegars, and herbal honeys.
Weather permitting, we will forage in the medicinal herb garden for volunteer herbs to practice our skills. Participants will make and take an infused oil, a tincture, a glycerite, a vinegar, and a honey. Jump start your home apothecary with these effective and easy techniques which are the building blocks for other simple remedies. Workshop is beginner friendly, includes materials, and will last 2-3 hours. Registration by 7/19/21 preferred (last-minute attendees are welcome if spaces are available and class has at least four signed up by 7/19). *Materials fee applies.
